English vocabulary can be increased by learning and practicing the correct usage of new words.
1. Compound words: Words formed by joining two or more simple words to make one larger word are known as compound words.
Examples:
1. Moon and Light:These are two words 'moon' and 'light'. If we combine these two words together, it becomes a new word 'moonlight'.
2. News and Paper:
These are two words 'news' and 'paper'. If we combine these two words together, it becomes a new word 'newspaper'.
3. Sun and Light:
These are two words 'sun' and 'light'. If we combine these two words together, it becomes a new word 'sunlight'.
4. After and Noon:
These are two words 'after' and 'noon'. If we combine these two words together, it becomes a new word 'afternoon'.
5. Motor and Car:
These are two words 'motor' and 'car'. If we combine these two words together, it becomes a new word 'motorcar'.
6. Pop and Corn:
These are two words 'pop' and 'corn'. If we combine these two words together, it becomes a new word 'popcorn'.
2. Antonyms: Words that mean the opposite of another word are known as antonyms.
Examples:
black - whitesit - stand
hot - cold
wet - dry
