Function Tables

A function table is a table displaying the inputs and the corresponding outputs of a function.

A function or a rule tells how inputs and outputs are related.

 

For example: This is a function table:

x	y
10	5
24	19
81	76
65	60

 

Here, 5 is subtracted from the x-values to get the corresponding y-values.

 

So, the rule or the function can be written in the form of an equation as:

y = x – 5
