Math Problems for 3rd graders

For 3rd graders, addition and subtraction have already become the foundation for their mathematical skills, and they are moving on up to multiplication and division. Third graders will learn the basics of probability through visual aids. In addition, they will also learn about mean, median, mode, and range, and practice calculating each.

Third grade math includes telling time, specifically rounding to the nearest hour. They will also continue discussing reasonable temperatures for a variety of items in both Celsius and Fahrenheit. They will also work with basic units of measure for length, weight, and volume.

3rd grade math will include the study the basics of algebra by learning about variables. It is a fun way to begin to strengthen problem solving. They can figure out the basic number puzzles with a letter replacing the missing number in whole numbers and mixed variables.
